Illumina Therapy is an Out-of-Network provider, which means clients pay out of pocket at the time of service. Upon request, I am happy to provide a superbill. You can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
If you plan to seek reimbursement, I recommend contacting your insurance provider in advance to confirm your benefits. Be sure to ask the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services?
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
What percentage of each therapy session is reimbursed?
How many therapy sessions per year are covered by my plan?
European Residents
I do not take insurance for residents who reside outside the United States at this time.

Illumina Therapy requires 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.
Recognizing that unexpected events can arise, clients are offered one courtesy late cancellation. While it’s recommended to reserve this for emergencies, it may be used at your discretion.

For individuals, during your first session, we’ll begin by reviewing the intake forms you completed prior to the appointment. You’ll then be invited to expand on what brought you to therapy and share what you hope to gain from our work together. From there, we’ll establish goals for our work and define what progress will look like for you.
Couples therapy begins with a joint session for both partners to discuss relationship challenges and shared goals. This is followed by individual sessions with each partner’s personal histories. A follow-up joint session then brings both partners back together to clarify and finalize goals and define steps toward progress. All sessions moving forward will be joint sessions, unless otherwise specified.

Every person is different, and the length of time someone spends in therapy can vary greatly.
Some people seek therapy for support during a specific challenge or life transition. Often, once they experience relief and feel more equipped to manage on their own, they choose to end therapy.
Others are looking for a space to engage in deeper, ongoing personal growth. For them, therapy may become a longer-term process that may include occasional breaks and returning as needed over time.
Therapy is a collaborative process. We’ll work together to determine what feels right for you, based on your goals, needs, and pace.
